How it works for luggage forwarding

    Tell us where the bags are, where they're going (airport terminal or next hotel), your flight or check-in date, and how many bags.

  2. 2

    We check the courier's cut-off times and size limits, then arrange pickup (often through your hotel's front desk) in Japanese.

  3. 3

    You get the pickup time, delivery date and where to collect your bags, plus the courier's fee so there are no surprises.

  • Number of bags and their rough size (e.g. 1 large suitcase, 1 golf bag)

Good to know

Send it well ahead

Luggage forwarding usually takes a day or more, so send bags before your last night, not on the morning of your flight [VERIFY: typical takkyubin delivery times to major airports]. We'll tell you the exact cut-off for your route.

Your hotel front desk can often help

Many hotels in Japan handle luggage forwarding at the front desk, you leave the bags, they hand them to the courier. We call ahead to check they do, what time the courier collects, and what they need from you.

Size and weight limits

Couriers set size and weight limits per bag, and fees go up with size. Golf bags, ski bags and very large cases are often fine, but we check before booking so nothing is refused at pickup.

Who pays what

The courier's fee is paid separately when the bag is sent, usually in cash or by card at the front desk. Our $17 covers arranging it, checking times and handling any calls.

What we can't do

  • We don't pay the courier's fee, you pay that when the bag is sent.
  • We can't carry or deliver bags ourselves.
  • Same-day forwarding is not always possible. If the timing can't work, we tell you before you pay.
  • We can't send items the courier doesn't accept, such as some batteries or valuables.
