Customer:
Can you call my old host family, the Tanakas, and say thank you again for last summer? And tell them I'll be back in Osaka on April 3rd, would they like to meet?
Call Japan:
What a lovely message. We'll call them this afternoon.
Call Japan:
Done Mrs. Tanaka was so happy to hear from you! She says April 3rd is perfect and they'd love to take you to dinner. She asked if you still like okonomiyaki.

Good to know

Ideas people send us

A thank-you after a homestay, arrival times for a visit, birthday or New Year greetings, congratulations on a new baby, or just checking that a parcel arrived. Short messages work well; so do longer ones you've thought carefully about.

Tell us how they know you

A call from a stranger can be confusing. Telling us how they know you, "I stayed with them in 2019", lets us introduce the call naturally, so they relax and know straight away why we're calling.

Timing and seasons

Calls in the late morning or early afternoon are often best for older people. Around New Year and the summer Obon holiday, families may be travelling, we'll try again if no one answers.

Sending a gift or flowers

If you'd like to send something too, we can arrange a gift or flower delivery through a local shop and pass on your message card. That's a Book request ($17); the shop's price is paid separately.

What we can't do

  • We only call people who know you and are happy to hear from you.
  • We don't search for people or find phone numbers.
  • We don't collect money, debts or payments from anyone.
  • We don't make calls someone may not want, complaints, confrontations or anything that could feel like pressure.
